Transformation and Media Services
The Sainsbury Laboratory plant tissue culture and media service provides the Sainsbury Laboratory with technical support in several ways;
- The transformation and generation of stable transgenic plants for a number of different plant species. These include Arabidopsis thaliana, Brassica oleracea (cabbage), Lotus japonicus, Medicago truncatula, Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco), Nicotiana benthamiana and Nicotiana sylvestris, Oryza sativa (rice), Solanum lycopersicon (tomato) and Solanum tuberosum (potato and other related wild diploid potato species).
- The generation and maintenance of plant cell suspension cultures for Arabidopsis, tobacco, N. benthamiana and tomato.
- The provision of custom media orders and pre poured bacterial agar plates.
- The provision of general laboratory buffers and glassware.
